Admission Overview

Thank you for your interest in Daystar Academy. We welcome applications from students of all nationalities including Chinese Nationals as we are registered as a private, local and non profit school.  On this page you will find information about our school that may help to answer some of your questions.  We are always accepting applications and admit students on a rolling basis during the school year as space is available.  To initiate the admissions process, please fill out an application along with the supporting documents and submit to our office. Grades and Ages
Kindergarten           Ages 18 months - 6 
Lower Elementary    Ages 6 - 9 (must be 6 by September 30)*
Upper Elementary    Ages 9 - 12

*students planning to attend Chinese middle school must be six years old by August 31

Criteria for Admissions

Admissions decisions are made by a committee comprised of the admission's team and academic heads of English and Chinese departments. Below is the criteria we follow and occasionally require an on site assessment of students entering elementary school. 

  • a correlation between the philosophy of the school and the goals of the parents
  • developmental readiness
  • social-emotional development
  • ability of the school to meet the needs of the student

In times of limited space, qualified students will be considered for admission in the following priority:

  • returning students
  • siblings of existing students
  • bilingual students coming from montessori programs
  • bilingual students
  • non-bilingual students 

Tuition

Kindergarten
RMB 95,000
Half day  RMB 57,000  (3 years old)

Elementary
RMB 101,000

Sibling discounts available. 5% for second child and 10% for third and subsequent children.

Additional and Optional Costs
Uniforms, notebook computers, lunch, bus and after school activities.  

Scholarship
Daystar has a scholarship program and will offer to families who qualify.  Please inquire about our tuition assistance application form.

Transportation
Daystar offers bus service to neighborhoods surrounding Beijing. We currently have ten, 25 passenger buses that service our students.  

Lunch Program
Trained in-house staff provides meals sourced from local organic farms or farms using organic farming practices. All food is made on site and designed to be nutritious, tasty and as local and seasonal as possible. Chinese and Western food is served. RMB 25-30/day (optional)

Uniforms
All students Kindergarten to Grade 6 are required to wear uniforms. 

School Hours
Monday Wednesday and Friday 8:15-3:40
Tuesday and Thursday 8:15-4:40*
*Students participate in after school activities

Parent support
At Daystar our parent support group is called StarParents.  They offer support and assistance by organizing fund raising events, book drives, recycling programs and lunch room duty.  They actively meet on a monthly basis for planned presentations and also share their cooking skills with each other in our kitchen classroom.
