Virtues Curriculum

Moral Character Education

Helping children to develop good character is our most important contribution to their future welfare and the betterment of society. Our character development program employees the Virtues-In-UsTM program for the youngest students and Chinese curriculum habit formation lessons and practice for older students. Montessori classes at all levels teach grace and courtesy lessons as they would other academic subjects. This combination of techniques is a systematic, practical and effective method for development of character and good behavior in children. Virtues are the building blocks of character. By teaching the children how to develop virtues, we nurture their spirituality and encourage them to be the best they can be in the service of humanity.

Students at Daystar Academy study specific virtues in depth through activities like role plays, stories, art, games, and memorization of quotations. Teachers model the language or virtues to help children understand exactly what it is they are doing right or need to practice. Students constantly have opportunities, through service, social interaction and classroom jobs, to practice their virtues.
